Musicians help siblings after kidney transplant

TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

Several musicians came together to help two siblings after a kidney transplant on Sunday.

Folks gathered at Doc's Bar on Tybee for "The Renal Fundraiser" to help Savannah natives, Ryan Buttimer, who recently had a successful kidney transplant, and his sister, Erin, who donated her kidney. This is the second day of a two-day event to help raise funds for this family. Eight local bands donated their time to perform and raise funds.

"I want to say thank you to the community and city of Tybee. They are always really supportive when one of our community members need help," said Peggy Stone, Organizer, Tybee Great Kidney Exchange.

All funds will go to the Georgia Transplant Foundation, which will match the total, up to $10,000, towards the Buttimer's expenses.
