Lawmakers asked to change land law on Jekyll Island

Posted: Updated:
JEKYLL ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

Georgia lawmakers are being asked to change a law dealing with conservation on Jekyll Island.

Last year, state park managers and groups all agreed that the 43-year-old law should be changed.

The law limits development on the island to 35-percent. New proposals limit future development to 78-acres for hotels, golf courses and other amenities, and 20-acres of that could go to commercial construction.
