Detectives seek suspect in cell phone theft

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Dept. Islands Precinct detectives are asking the public's help in identifying a man who stole cell phones from a Savannah wholesale store.

The incident occurred at approximately 9 a.m. Dec. 30 at the Sam's Club on East Montgomery Cross Road. A man wearing a small backpack opened a case containing iPhones and took 14 of them and stuck them in his backpack before leaving the store.

Detectives believe the suspect left in a newer model black Dodge Charger.

The suspect is also linked to Sam's Club thefts in DeKalb County, GA and Lumberton County, NC. The suspect stole smartphones and left in the same type of vehicle in the other thefts.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s,standing about 5'10 to 6' tall and weighing approximately 160-180 pounds.
