RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The Virginia Department of Transportation crews are working Wednesday morning treating ice and plowing snow on roadways.

According to a VDOT meeting Wednesday morning, blowing snow and black ice are making for hazardous driving conditions.

Interstates and primary roads are mostly in minor to moderate condition for the morning commute.   Secondary roads and subdivision streets have more snow and ice cover, as crews focus their efforts to keep the most heavily traveled routes treated and plowed first.

VDOT's goal is to have all state-maintained roads passable within 48 hours after a winter storm ends.
