Man charged in fatal shooting of Seabrook man

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a Seabrook man on Jan. 18.

Quinton Darnel Delaney Jr., 21, is charged with one count of murder in the shooting death of 27-year-old Tyrice Washington. Delaney was arrested the night of the shooting during a traffic stop conducted by Beaufort police. He served Wednesday afternoon with a warrant on murder charges at the Beaufort County Detention Center.

Investigators determined that at 10 p.m. Saturday, Delaney and Washington had been hanging out together, drinking in a vehicle parked in the area of Delaney Circle. They were both handling firearms when there was a brief verbal disagreement between them that led to Washington's shooting, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Delaney drove around for a period of time before eventually dropping Washington off at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital emergency room, according to the BCSO. Hospital staff tried to render aid, but Washington was pronounced dead right after he arrived.

Within minutes after Washington was dropped off, Beaufort police conducted pulled Delaney in the area of Walgreens on Palmetto Street. He was subsequently arrested for unlawful carrying of a handgun, unlawful possession of a handgun with an obliterated serial number and speeding as a result of the traffic stop.
