Bluffton to vote to annex future school site under town limits
BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -
The Town of Bluffton will soon vote on whether or not to include the new Pre-K through 8th grade school under its town limits.
Right now, all Beaufort County schools within the Bluffton area fall under the town's police and fire protection.
The Davis Road school site is the only one that sits within the county's jursdiction.
The school board voted back on Jan. 7 to formally ask the town to annex the 52 acres.
"When we began discussions with the town of Bluffton about building the new school, there was interest on both sides with the town of Bluffton and the school district in terms of annexing that property, it's almost like a doughnut hole, that property is the only property that's unincorporated," said Jim Foster, Beaufort County School District.
The Bluffton town council meeting will start at 6 p.m.
