Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. announced Thursday plans for an outlet center in Pooler as part of a partnership with development firm Ben Carter Enterprises.
The outlets would be located off of Interstate 95, just north of I-16 in Pooler. Phase One plans include 400,000 square feet and of more than 90 upscale brand name and designer outlet stores.
"We are very pleased to add Tanger Outlets Savannah to our existing portfolio of successful resort and destination properties," said Steven B. Tanger, President and CEO of Tanger Factory Outlets, in a statement. "Our joint venture with Ben Carter Enterprises in the Savannah market is a strategic move to help us deliver a world class outlet experience to this thriving Southern market."
They broke ground on the development in the Fall 2013, and there are commitments for more than 70 percent of the available space, according to a news release. The outlet is schedule to open in April 2015.
"We have a great location and project design in store for the greater Savannah market which hosts more than 12 million tourist annually. Pooler, Georgia is the growth corridor for the Savannah metropolitan area. This dynamic city enjoys diversified growth in residential and commercial development," said Ben Carter, in a statement.
