The Effingham County Board of Education hosted a public hearing for parents at Rincon Elementary School at 7 p.m. Thursday night about possible changes to help with overcrowding in schools.
The Board of Education is proposing redistricting the borders for three elementary schools: Blandford, Ebenezer and Rincon. Not everyone was happy with the proposed changes.
"Number one problem is going to be difference in the start times," said parent Kim Moore. "I'm a single mother and I have to get to work on time. The truth is, it's ridiculous because the later start time is going to cause me to be late for work everyday"
wanted to hear from our parents, the community, about the proposed change and
then in February the board will make a decision about whether we are going to
approve the plan or not," said Effingham County School Superintendent Jack Shearhouse.
A decision is expected to be made by February and will go into effect in the fall of 2014.
