SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The much anticipated Cat Bike program launched Friday in the Coastal Empire.

Chatham Area Transit, in collaboration with the city of Savannah, officially opened Savannah and Georgia's first bike sharing program at 10 a.m. Friday. Bikes were available for checkout immediately after the kickoff event, held at the Intermodal Transit Center.

Cat Bike will offer a fun transportation alternative for short trips around Savannah. Available to residents and visitors, Cat Bike memberships will include daily, weekly, and annual options.

Currently, there are two CAT Bike stations: Rivers Exchange at the Transit Center and Ellis Square. Bikes can be checked out and returned to either station.
