SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

CEMA will be holding Community Emergency Response Team training during the month of February, and they want you to attend.

Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) are all about being ready and helping people. It is a positive approach that will realistically teach you how to handle emergency and disaster situations on your own.

With this training, citizens can learn to put out small fires, treat the three killers by opening airways, controlling bleeding, and treating shock. They can learn to provide basic medical aid, search for and safely rescue victims from danger, and also learn how to better organize themselves so that they can be effective during emergencies.

The classes are free and dates and times are as follows:

February 8, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

February 9, 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

February 15, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You can register here.

All of the classes will be held at: Southside Fire Department, 2009 Grove Point Rd., Savannah.
