Woman walks cross-country for cancer kids

Posted: Updated:

Stacie Eichinger has seen the beauty, and hospitality, of America, one back road at a time.

The 29 year old left Spokane, WA in May and has walked cross-country nearly every day since then. She'll wrap up her 3,800 mile journey Saturday on Tybee Island.

She's walking to help Beads of Courage. a non-profit group that supplies childhood cancer patients with beads produced to signify events and milestones in their treatment. She told WTOC Sunday that she's been treated well everywhere she's travelled.

"People have just been great. So many have welcomed a stranger into their home," she said.

She is also delivering a bead to each child patient she meets at hospitals along the way. She's brought a bead for each mile of her trip.
