Georgia and South Carolina officials are warning all drivers to stay off the roads Tuesday night and Wednesday, due to the snow and ice that's expected.
But, if you have to go out on the roads, here are some tips: slow down, especially when approaching intersections, off ramps, bridges or shady spots.
Allow at least three times more space than usual between you and the car in front of you. Brake gently to avoid skidding. Be especially careful on bridges, overpasses and infrequently traveled roads.
"Make sure you have good wiper blades in your car, your headlights are working," said Lance Corporal Judd Jones, with South Carolina Highway Patrol. "If it does snow, clear your headlights, clear your tail lights, and clear your windshield."
Also, officials say you should fill your gas tank so it won't freeze over night.
