We have got a lot of recent coaching news, as one head coach of a very successful program is headed to another school closer to home.
Richmond Hill's Lyman Guy is leaving the Wildcat program, as he is heading to take over at Toombs County as head football coach and athletic director. Guy cited his want to get closer to home in Collins as a big reason for the move.
In Vidalia, girls coach Chunk Reid was honored for his major contributions to the school. Reid recently passed the 800 victory plateau. Now the floor at the Indian's home court will be known as "Chunk's Court."
Richmond Hill took time to honor longtime basketball coach, Jimmy Hires. He coached the Wildcats for 24 seasons, winning three state titles, and playing in the Final Four two other years. Hires will be inducted in to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame on May 31st.
Wayne County's Kaitlyn Manning inked a letter of intent to play softball with East Georgia. Manning was a four-year starter for the Yellow Jackets, helping them to back to back top four finishes.
Saint Andrews' Dominique Desautels signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Lagrange College. While at Saint Andrews, Dominique also lettered in basketball and volleyball, and is a full international baccaloureate diploma student.
