SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Fire crews responded to a structure fire in Thunderbolt early Wednesday morning.

It happened at about 2:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of College Street behind Savannah State.

Southside, Thunderbolt and Savannah Fire crews responded. Upon arrival, the structure was engulfed in flames. Fire officials believe it was a duplex, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Crews battled the flames for more than four hours, and the fire is now extinguished. Firefighters were rotated due to the cold weather. Thunderbolt Fire Chief Gregory Socks said they are working with Southside Fire to bring in additional staffing.

The home was destroyed as well as a pickup truck next door. Everyone made it out of the structure safely. No one was injured.

Georgia Power crews were called out due to downed live power lines. Crews have shut power off to most of College Street in order to clear the downed lines.

College Street is closed at this time. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. The state fire marshal is expected out Wednesday to investigate the cause.
