Prison camp inmate at large from Jesup

JESUP, GA (WTOC) -

A search is underway for an inmate from the Satellite Prison Camp in Jesup ran from the facility Tuesday night and has not been seen since.

Prison camp staff saw Melvin Nance, of Jacksonville, FL, running from the camp at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was serving more than 12 years for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His projected release date was Dec. 20, 2018.

The FBI and U.S. Marshals Service were notified, along with local and state authorities. Nance is a black male who is 6' tall and weighs 230 lbs. He has black hair and eyes.

Anyone who sees him should report him to local authorities immediately or the U.S. Marshals Service at 912.652.4212.
