Parents balance work and play

Posted: Updated:

A lot of parents were forced to choose between their work and children on Thursday because some people had to return to work even though some schools were still closed.

Some parents were found at Monkey Joe's with their children. Employees say parents were lined up outside, waiting for the inflatable play center to open so their children could play on their day off from school.

However, some parents were not so lucky. Many tried to find a place for their child to go while they went to work.

Officials at the Childcare Network say they were one of the few day cares that opened back up on Thursday. One of their locations reached full capacity as parents scrambled to find childcare so they could go to work.

But some parents at Monkey Joe's decided to share the responsibility.

"[My wife] had a doctor's appointment so I took a half day from work," said parent Chase Paterno. "[My son and I] are going to go grab some lunch and then I'm going to hand him off to mom while I head off to work"

There were also some parents who had their hands full all day with their children, along with other children.

"I didn't have to be at work today, but my neighbor did work, so I'm keeping her son," said parent Lauren Key.
