SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - The Savannah Music Festival is adding shows by some heavyweights of contemporary American roots music to its spring lineup.

Organizers announced Thursday that singer-songwriter Jason Isbell will perform March 23. Formerly a member of the Drive-By Truckers, Isbell released his latest solo album "Southeastern" last year. Many critics hailed it as one of the best albums of 2013.

Songwriter and bandleader Pokey LaFarge, whose music mixes up elements of jazz, ragtime and country blues, will share a bill March 29 with singer and violinist Kristina Train, a Savannah native who in addition to her solo work has toured the globe with Herbie Hancock.

The Savannah Music Festival begins March 20 and runs through April 5, featuring more than 100 performances at venues throughout the city's downtown historic district.
