Part of Waters Avenue still closed due to wreck

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A section of Waters Avenue is closed due to a single-vehicle wreck. Police said the road is expected to reopen at about 1 p.m.

A car struck a power pole at about 8 a.m. on Waters Avenue near Lee Boulevard. The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. 

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police officers have closed Waters from Lee Boulevard down to Stephenson Avenue beacuse the power pole started to split in half, and officers were concerned for public safety. Georgia Power crews have arrived to replace the damaged pole, and Waters should be closed until the pole can be replaced.

Police are diverting traffic around the area in both directions.
