SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

While firefighters may sometimes be called to rescue a cat from a tree or roof, animal control officers had a different rescue call on Thursday.

It wasn't the hum of his engine, but instead the meow of a neighbor's cat a Jonesville man heard coming from under the hood.

Spartanburg Animal Services officers said the man was in town and called them because he thought something was inside his truck.

When the man brought the truck to the city's maintenance garage, Major Steve Lamb said they found the frightened feline. He said it took animal services officers about an hour to get the cat out.

Lamb said the cat belonged to man's neighbor and was safe, sound and unstuck. The cat was still at the shelter as of Friday but was expected to return home later in the day.

Spartanburg Animal Services is also posting updates on "Little Houdini" from the "Stuck in a Truck" rescue on their Facebook page.
