Police struggle to contact family after pedestrian killed

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are still trying to locate the family members of a 59-year-old Savannah man who was hit by a pickup truck on Thursday night.

Police said officers from Metro's Major Accident Investigation Team have exhausted all avenues to find relatives of David Lee Marks who died after being struck by the truck. .

Police said the Marks, who was wearing dark clothing, was pushing a shopping cart across the westbound lanes of East President Street when he walked into the path of a Ford F-150 driven by a 25-year-old Savannah woman.

He was taken to Memorial University Medical Center at 8:30 p.m. where he died.

Metro's Major Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate.
