GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

North Alabama is the first stop on a new bass fishing tournament.

Organizers spent Friday setting up at Lake Guntersville State Park. Anglers start fishing the Alabama Bass Trail Tournament Series Saturday morning.

More than 400 anglers are part of the competition. A first-place win in the tournament is worth $100,000. Organizers expect the tournament to have a $500,000 impact on the local economy.

Next month, Guntersville will host the Bassmaster Classic from Feb. 21-23.
