Fallen Ludowici soldier honored

LUDOWICI, GA (WTOC) -

People from all over The Coastal Empire came together to honor a fallen young man from Ludowici who served our nation.

Private Ryan Brewton died this week at his duty station, Fort Wainwright in Alaska.

Total strangers came out to pay tribute for his service.

"To bring a soldier home is very important.  You know back in the world wars, a lot of soldiers didn't come home, so this is very important to bring someone home like this.  We are going to go all out and bring him in with honors." said Tuvale S. Page Sr., Midway Police Officer.

"You know we ask these guys to do a lot, and we don't show them the proper respect and proper dignity. So the members of my post and the local fire department try to come out and give him a salute saying welcome home and thank you for a job well done." said Dennis Fitzgerald, Commander of East Liberty Co. OF American Legion Post.

Private Brewton was just 21 years old.
