SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Local Boy Scouts came together on Sunday at White Bluff Presbyterian Church to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Scout Sunday.

A group of Boy Scouts and their families came together to receive Christian-based awards after having taken classes and working hard to reach their goals.

"Today is a 100 years of Scout Sunday, and it is really important because the 12th point of the Scout Law is 'a scout is reverent," said Ed McCarthy, Pack Committee Chair.

"This is like my family, so you know, having them behind me is great, and having them support me for my Eagle Scout project," said Tchaka Grant, Spo Troop.

Eleven of the scouts received awards today, including one young man, Michael Sheppard, who was given the 'God and Life' Four-Star Award. Michael is one of only three local youth to earn this challenging four-part award over the past 10 years.
