Rape Crisis Center holds annual meeting

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Rape Crisis Center's annual meeting was held Monday morning at Candler Hospital. The meeting included a year-end review and a discussion of future plans and goals for 2014.

Awards were also handed out and new board members were announced.

The meeting celebrated the center's volunteers who provide immediate hospital response and answer the crisis line and SANE Nurses who conduct the sexual assault nurse examinations to victims who have been raped.

They established the first annual "Mary McAlister" award in honor of the outgoing Executive Director. The first recipient is Paul Ganem of Johnnie Gamen.

RCC shared the 2013 statistics:

  • The center provided services to 100 victims of rape.
  • 223 Crisis Line calls
  • RCC provided prevention activity to 12,756 youth and young adults

The 2014 incoming board members were also announced:

Head Swim Coach, Savannah Swim Team
