SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

District 3 Alderman John Hall and members of Savannah city council joined city cemeteries staff for a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony on a newly developed two-acre section of Greenwich Cemetery.

Greenwich Cemetery is the newest of the city's municipal cemeteries and is situated on the site of the historic Greenwich Plantation. The 65-acre cemetery was established in 1933 as the Greenwich Addition to Bonaventure.

"You know Savannah offers a variety of things for the living, so it is fitting that we provide our citizens with a decent resting place," said Hall.

From Bonaventure Road, follow Greenwich Road past Bonaventure Cemetery thru Forest Lawn Cemetery, and then look for signs to direct you.

Tuesday's ceremony was at 1:30 p.m.
