Savannah accepting proposals for performing arts instructors

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah's Department of Cultural Affairs and the Parks and Recreation Neighborhood Centers are now accepting proposals for visual and performing arts instructors.

The 2014 Neighborhood Arts Programs are in need of instructors as part of their Weave-A-Dream Program. 

Each applicant should send the following:

  • A recent resume
  • A narrative describing various activities to take place for the eight week program
  • A method of evaluation to track the program's success
  • A budget detailing the needed resources to complete the program.

Instructors will wokr with about 12 children ranging from ages 8-16 depending on the program. Program locations are located at neighborhood centers in Crusader, Tatemville, and Woodville.

Applicants that are qualified will be asked to submit a background check.

Proposals are due by March 17 and can be sent to cnorthcutt@savannahga.gov or can be mailed to 9 West Henry Street, Savannah, GA 31401.

    After years of an almost complete moratorium, the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council voted 12 to 1 Monday to open a limited 2017 red snapper fishing season in the South Atlantic. If approved by NOAA Fisheries, the season will likely begin in mid-to late October.
