Employees and guests baffled by jeep crashing into Motel 6

Posted: Updated:

Part of the Motel 6 in Hinesville may be boarded up, but they'll still leave the light on for you despite the fact that someome plowed into the building Tuesday morning, damaging a couple of rooms.

This isn't the first time someone has crashed into this motel.

Employees are baffled that someone managed to drive through their parking lot into the building, not once but twice.

"We thought that something had exploded in the room because we didn't know what it was," said Front Desk Manager Nicole Cook.

She then called 911 after she saw what looked like ashes coming from the side of the motel.

"That's when they told me a car crashed into our building so I didn't even know. They knew before we did," said Cook.

Hannah Cornelson was staying across the hall with her dog.

"I heard this loud thud and he jumped out of his skin and I jumped and came out…and there's a jeep through the wall," she said.

"It's crazy," said Robert Turner who works nearby the Motel 6. "It kind of shocked me because I've never seen nothing like that around here before."

All agree it's a strange sight. But what's even stranger is that this has happened once before at the Motel 6.

"It happened in the breakfast area," said Angela Irwin, who was working here as a housekeeper back in 2006.

She said today felt like déjà vu.

"It was just a freak accident. It's just unreal."

The focus now is to clean up the mess and repair the damage, but the current owner still can't help but be puzzled by it all.

"I don't know how anyone could go in right away because we are not on the main road either, and he came from the side, not the entrance," said owner Vibha Bhaget.

Hinesville Police say the driver blacked out from a medical condition and lost control of the Jeep. They are not planning to file any charges against him.
