Raku Raku

The city of Savannah's Cultural Affairs Department invites the public to try Raku.

This ancient firing technique involves heating ceramic pieces to around 2,000 degrees, and then placing them in an air-tight container.

Works will be fired on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants can select a pre-made bisque piece to glaze and take home. There is a firing fee of $10 per piece but there is no fee to observe.

Those interested can catch an afternoon of Raku on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Studios parking lot at 9 West Henry Street.
