Bill to allow Sunday alcohol sales before St. Patrick's Day clears House

A bill that would allow alcohol sales in bars when St. Patrick's Day falls on a Sunday has passed the Georgia House, according to WTOC media partner the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Community leaders in Savannah are pushing for the change. House Bill 784 would allow local governments to decide whether to expand Sunday alcohol sales in those particular years.  

The bill overwhelmingly passed the House with a 148-8 vote, and according to the AJC, it stands and equally good chance in the Senate.
