EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

An Effingham County trial began with graphic evidence for a jury who holds the fate of the woman accused of concealing a man's death.

Investigators said Kim Moretz admits to being in the next room while her husband brutally stabbed and dismembered 35-year-old Charlie Ray.

Moretz finally admitted to investigators that she knew exactly what happened to Ray after Moretz's husband, Chad Moretz, was shot and killed by police in a standoff last year.

She told investigators that Ray and her husband had been drinking and had gotten into a fight. The next thing she knew, Chad Moretz was stabbing Ray.

According to investigators, Kim Moretz said she didn't actually see it happen because she was sitting in the next room.

Even though police had been questioning Kim Moretz for several days about Ray, she finally admitted what happened while she was in the hospital after her husband was shot and killed by police.

Moretz told investigators that her husband walked around very proud after what he had done to Ray.

"He was smiling and I was crying," said Kim Moretz. "I was so scared that I thought I was next."

According to investigators, the reason Kim Moretz didn't go to the police was because she felt threatened that her husband was going to kill her too.
