Bluffton seeks volunteers to fill town's boards, commissions

The call has been issued for volunteers in the Lowcountry. 

The Town of Bluffton is compiling applications for boards and commissions before vacancies occur.

From planting trees to nurturing start-up companies, the Town of Bluffton's fifteen boards and commissions have about 100 people volunteering at any one time. You must be a resident or a business owner in the Town of Bluffton to be considered. 

Town council, who appoints each member of each board, is encouraging residents to submit an application. The fifteen boards and commissions are as follows: 

  • Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee
  • Affordable Housing Committee
  • Beautification Committee
  • Bluffton Public Development Corporation
  • Board of Zoning Appeals
  • Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals
  • Don Ryan Center For Innovation
  • Historic Preservation Committee
  • May River Watershed Action Plan Advisory Committee
  • Municipal Elections Commission
  • Negotiating Committee
  • Planning Commission
  • Public Safety Citizens Committee
  • Wall of Honor Committee
  • Water Quality Technical Advisory Committee 

Current vacancies of the Town's Boards and Commissions are as follows: 

  • Affordable Housing Committee – one vacancy 
  • Board of Zoning Appeals – one vacancy
