Pembroke police investigate possible 'Russian Roulette' case

A man has died Thursday morning after a shooting at a home Wednesday afternoon.

Pembroke police responded to a home at 2:40 p.m. Thursday on Bower Street on a reporting of a shooting.

Officers found a 23-year-old man on the living room floor suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.  Emergency responders tried stabilize the man. He was taken by Lifeflight to Memorial University Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the man was identified as Joshua R. McKinney, of Pembroke. His body is being sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for an autopsy.

Three other men were at the home during the shooting. Witnesses told police that McKinney was playing Russian Roulette. Witnesses said that McKinney dropped a bullet into the gun, spun the chamber and placed the gun to his head and fired, according to a police news release. 

Police said a search warrant was obtained and a .38-caliber handgun was found in the home during the search. Police said it was the gun used in the shooting.
