Nation to Go Red for Women

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

In an ongoing effort to elevate public awareness about heart disease, the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement is asking everyone to wear red Friday for National Wear Red Day.

Heart disease is the no. 1 killer of women, even more than all forms of cancer combined. Most women don't notice the symptoms of heart disease until it's too late, which is why heart disease has been called, the silent killer.

Officials say Go Red for Women is about much more than wearing red. It's about living a longer, stronger life and encouraging your love ones to do the same.
