SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Benton woman is behind bars in connection with the theft of kitchen equipment from a local business.

Police say they got a call from the Fairfield Place Bed and Breakfast in the 2200 block of Fairfield Avenue on Friday evening reporting a theft. They were told that several kitchen items of significant value had been taken from by an employee who was still on the property.

Property crimes detectives were called, and in the course of the investigation, police say they linked 34-year-old Terri Bowen to the theft.

Bowen was employed at the business during the time the thefts occurred. Police believe she stole the items from the home over time, pawning a number of the pieces in exchange for cash. The value of the items stolen, which included various pieces of silver, amounted to approximately $30,000.00.

For her alleged role in the crime, Bowen was arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on charges of Theft.  Authorities are now working to assist in the return of some of the stolen items.
