JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A local ministry will occupy the old Farish Street YMCA with plans of bringing swimming, basketball and other activities back to the community.

We Will Go Ministries held a special dedication at the facility Saturday at noon.

The ministry is located in downtown Jackson and shares the gospel as well as feeding and caring for the needy.

David and Amy Lancaster operate the ministry which has three bases in the downtown area.

We Will Go also teaches skills like carpentry through repurposing of materials from homes they renovate in the area.

The YMCA offered the daycare center to the group when it moved to the downtown location last year.

"Things that were here before, before it was a daycare, things we'll be able to do again. We'll be able to do basketball in Christ. We'll be able to do swimming in Jesus. We do discipleship, men's discipleship, women's discipleship, teenagers. A lot of the things we're already doing we just got another space," said We Will Go Co-Director Amy Lancaster.

The facility is open to everyone and free to the public.
