Posted: Updated:

Crews are working to remove damaged power lines in Guyton after an overnight wreck.

It happened on Courthouse Road at Midland Road. Effingham Fire and Rescue responded to the single-vehicle accident around 2 a.m. Officials say an SUV was traveling down Courthouse Rd when the crash occurred. One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Power is out in the area due to the crash and power crews are working to replace the damaged pole and lines.

The intersection of Courthouse and Midland roads is closed and could remain that way for several hours, according to officials. Drivers are advised to avoid the area during Monday's morning commute.

As of 10:40 a.m. Monday, the intersection at Courthouse and Midland remains closed. We will continue to monitor the roads in that area and let you know as soon as it reopens to traffic.
