SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

An investigation is underway in the massive fire that destroyed half of warehouse three at the Ocean Terminal inside the Georgia Ports Authority on Saturday.

Investigators with the state fire marshal and Savannah Fire are conducting interviews and walking through the south end of the building, which was protected by a fire wall, to check the damage.

They haven't made it to the north end of the warehouse yet, and it may be weeks before they get to that section.

"It may be sometime before they get around to dig through some of this stuff to see if they could actually pin point where it started, how it started," said Savannah Fire Spokesperson Mark Keller.

According to Keller, the fire is officially out.

Some firefighters were still out at the warehouse throughout the day on Monday, checking for hotspots. They were also out there to help the port with the cleanup process, which could take days.
