POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for a man killed in a deputy involved shooting.

A Pooler man died after a confrontation with Chatham County deputies on Monday.

Officials say deputies went to Jeffrey Beckworth's home off of Canal Bank Road in Pooler at 11:30 a.m. to serve an aggravated battery warrant. Beckworth ran and shots were fired.

So far, it is unclear who did the shooting or exactly how Beckworth died. The sheriff's office has asked Pooler Police to do an independent investigation into the matter. The sheriff's office is also doing its own internal affairs investigation.

A Chatham County sheriff's deputy is currently on paid administrative leave, which is the sheriff's office policy after a deputy involved shooting.
