MIDWAY, GA (WTOC) -

Midway police are asking the public with help in finding a teenage girl who has not been seen since Monday morning.

Alexis Maureen Morningstar, 16, was last seen at 7:45 a.m. Monday at Liberty County High School. She is described as 5'8" and has black hair and blue eyes. Alexis is the daughter of Midway Police Chief Keli Morningstar.

Police said Morningstar left her cell phone at home and she has not been active on Facebook or Twitter.

"Well it's the chief daughter. in the past we've had issues with the past on the outside things that went on within the department. and being that this is the chiefs daughter we don't know that this is something in retaliation to that. So like I said, we're taking all leads seriously anything that we can get that will get us closer to getting Alexis home OK. Thats what we're willing to do," said Duvale Page Sr., a senior patrol officer with Midway police.

Anyone with information on Alexis's whereabouts is asked to call the Liberty County Sheriff's Office at 912.876.2131 or Midway police 912.880.1000.
