SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Southside Precinct detectives from the SCMPD are trying to identify a woman who cashed a check taken from a victim's vehicle. The woman also withdrew money from another victim's bank account.

The suspect posed as another person to cash a stolen and forged check, then withdrew money from the account of the woman she professed to be.

The stolen checkbook had been left in a purse inside of a locked car that was parked on West Montgomery Cross Road on Feb. 4.

When the owner returned to her vehicle, she found her window broken out and her purse was gone.

The victim's credit union told her that someone cashed the check at a bank in Savannah, and the bank also discovered the theft from the second victim's account when police investigated.

Anyone with information on the identity and or location of the suspect is asked to call Southside Precinct detectives at 912.351.3400 or Crimestoppers at 912.234.2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020.
