The weather is having an affect on the region basketball tournament schedule. With Bulloch County schools not traveling to Savannah on Wednesday, Feb. 12, all the games scheduled for Wednesday at Beach High have been pushed back a day. So, everything will pick up again on Thursday, Feb. 13.
JENKINS BOYS WIN 80-35 OVER WINDSOR FOREST
On Tuesday, the state-ranked number five Jenkins Warriors faced Windsor Forest.
Quasean Harris was off the glass and Malik Benlevi got a three-pointer.
The warriors won it 80-35. Benlevi put in 20 points.
REBELS' BOYS DOWN GROVES 72-57
In Tuesday's matchup in Richmond Hill, Effingham tipped off against Groves.
The Rebels were on the fast break. Kyle Owens tried for two points off the window. It was a no go. The Rebels pounded the board, but it was Deshawn Wilkinson's pass to Kyle Ownes on the reverse that got the bucket.
Still in the first, Effingham worked the key. Tanner Reed buried the three to give the Rebels the early lead.
Effingham County won it 72-57. The Rebels are off until Thursday night.
SOUTHEAST BULLOCH WINS OVER ISLANDS 71-55
Over at Southeast Bulloch, the Yellowjackets brought in Islands High.
The Sharks gave them a run at the end of the first. Marlon Bowen buried the three to beat the buzzer and tie up the game at 17.
Into the second, the Yellowjackets off the inbounds play to Josh Davis with the finger roll basket.
Later, Pestan Smith knocked the ball loose and drove to the iron for two more.
The Yellowjackets won this one 71-55.
RICHMOND ACADEMY WINS OVER STATESBORO 66-56
In the ARC vs. Statesboro game, it is picked up under two minutes to play.
The Blue Devils were down; trying to keep close, Jaylan Rawls hit the deep three.
But, in the final 90 seconds, Richmond Academy hit enough free throws and they won it 66-56.
LIBERTY COUNTY ADVANCES WITH 66-47 WIN
Over in Augusta, Liberty County visited Hephzibah.
The Panthers answered quickly; Josh Powers missed inside, but Freddie McSwain was there to tip it in.
Then Conner Bailey hits for two points. 10--0 run for the Panthers.
It was not enough. Liberty County rolled 66-47.
EFFINGHAM COUNTY GIRLS WIN 68-15
In girls play, the 23-2 Rebels faced Windsor Forest.
The Rebels' Markayla Robinson hits the glass.
Later Te'Shauna Johnson went inside. She put in 13.
Truana Williams came up with the jump hook.
Effingham County won it 68-15. Kyesha Lewis lead the way with 15.
GLYNN ACADEMY GIRLS WINS 71-20 OVER GROVES
In girls play, Glynn Academy faced Groves.
The Terrors, beating up on Groves, had the lead 58-11 in the third.
Faith Singleton with the breakaway pass to Nesh Murry. The one-handed jumper for two, Terrors extending their lead to 47 points.
There was more where that came from. Erianna Campbell with the bounce in the paint to Bria McGirth to add another two. Glynn Academy wins 71-20.
