SAVANNAH CHRISTIAN BOYS WIN OVER COUNTRY DAY 61-49
In Region 3A Boys, Mike Harner and his Hornets faced Savannah Christian.
In the first half the Hornets' Demetrius Robertson took it all the way in for the basket and the foul.
Back came the Raiders, A.J. Sanders hit the long 2-pointer. Sanders and Brandon Thomas both put in 15 for the Raiders.
Gage Hawkins drove in and layed it off the glass to beat the buzzer at the end of the half.
Savannah Christian wins it 61-49. The Raiders face ECI at Treutlen County Tuesday afternoon.
JOHNSON GIRLS WIN 73-9 OVER ISLANDS
In Region 1AAA Girls play Johnson was home to Islands.
In the first half Ashleigh Simmons got things started at the top of the arc with the long two.
The Atom Smashers keeping it in their zone; Alexandria Brooks took it in the paint and gave it up to Ijeoma Odimgbe who is there to clean up.
Johnson was relentless as Victoria Moran drove off the steal dishes to Olivia Hardy, and the three was good. Johnson went on a 31 point run to start the game.
Islands finally gets on the board with a couple of free throws, but the 3rd ranked Atomsmashers win it 73-9.
BLUE JACKET GIRLS WIN IN OVERTIME
Also in Region 1AAA, Savannah High faced New Hampstead, and we had a nail biter.
Shaquanda Middleton took it to the hole for the easy two in the final moments of the 4th, tying up the game up at 37 and sending the two squads into overtime.
Martayshia Brown got the fast break off a steal and fed it to Tiara Thomas with the finger roll, giving the Phoenix the lead.
We saw those two meet up again just minutes later, Brown with the long pass to Thomas again for two, the Phoenix still with the one point lead.
That would change though, "The High" dominated from the charity stripe and walked away with the 42-39 win.
GLENN HILLS GIRLS WIN OVER WAYNE COUNTY
The Wayne County Yellow Jackets went on the road to face Glenn Hills on Monday night.
The Yellow Jackets tried to get things going as they have 6-17 overall record and an 0-6 start this year in region play. However, they couldn't get it turned around.
Glenn hills would end up winning it 54-42.
SAVANNAH CHRISTIAN GIRLS WIN OVER JENKINS COUNTY
In the first half, Brown worked the right side and dished the rock to Chandler Ewaldsen who teed up the jumper for a long two.
The War Eagles went coast to coast on the other end, Amber Branch with the inside pass to Brandi Cooper under the iron and a short jumper to give Jenkins County the one point lead.
The Red Raiders went on to win it though 50-44. They will face Johnson County on Tuesday at four.
