Georgia Power bracing for more outages

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Georgia Power is focusing a lot of their attention on Swainsboro and Statesboro, where they are seeing trees limbs falling on power lines.

It could be a busy night for them, as temperatures are going to drop below freezing again Wednesday night.

Georgia Power expects to see more outages. The Swainsboro office is already closed because of weather concerns.

Officials say the accumulation seems to be getting more intense in the Statesboro area. Georgia Power is dedicating a lot of resources there, while keeping a watch on the rest of the area.

"We are going to continue to monitor it," said Georgia Power Communications and Corporate Support Manager Swann Seiler. "We are holding back crews that will be here to assist if the Savannah area needs assistance. Right now, we are watching the ice, the rain and the temperatures. It can happen in Port Wentworth , we hear, so we are working closely with emergency management agencies and we will keep an eye on it."

You can report outages or check the status of an outage by visiting Georgia Power's outage map.
