More than 200,000 South Carolina customers are without electricity as a severe winter storm wraps up in the state.

South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. reported about 114,000 customers had no service Thursday morning. The biggest problems were in Aiken and Dorchester counties.

Duke Energy reported about 6,000 customers without service in the Upstate.

The utility said in the areas previously serviced by Progress Energy, more than 70,000 customers were without service. The biggest problems were in the Florence and Sumter areas.

The state-owned utility Santee Cooper had more than 8,000 customers without service.

Forecasters said the frozen precipitation was expected to end Thursday, but significantly warmer temperatures were not expected until Friday.
