Georgia gradually rebounding from winter storm

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - Rising temperatures are expected to help Georgia continue rebounding from a winter storm that left a large swath of the state coated with a layer of ice.

National Weather Service forecasters are predicting temperatures in the low 50s with a slight chance of rain Friday, and clear skies Saturday with temperatures expected to reach the high 40s.

Things are expected to get back to normal at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport with fewer than 40 scheduled cancellations Friday. The storm earlier this week prompted the cancellation of thousands of flights from the world's busiest airport.

Gov. Nathan Deal has ordered state offices to reopen at 10 a.m. and some of Atlanta's bus service has been restored while trains will continue running on a weekend schedule.
