Pittsburgh-based InventHelp is attempting to submit this idea, the Smoke Box, to companies in the hopes of a good faith review.

"Each time I used wood chips while barbecuing, theyd burn out too quickly, which resulted in a weak taste," said an inventor from Bossier City, La. "In order to solve this problem, I conceived of my design."
He then created a prototype of the patent-pending SMOKE BOX, which allows for more convenient, effective wood-smoking of grilled foods. By eliminating the need to place wood chips directly on coals, it prevents the chips from burning too quickly. As a result, it promotes a better, stronger taste and benefits grilling enthusiasts, tailgaters, caterers and outdoors enthusiasts.
