Fifty members from the 30th Infantry Division and five Holocaust survivors spent the day at Hunter Army Airfield.

The 30th Infantry Division liberated 2,000 Jews from concentration camps toward the end of World War II in Germany.

Maj. Gen. Mike Murray, the commanding general of the Third Infantry Division, was part of the event and says he was honored to visit with them.

"They did ask about the troops currently serving in Afghanistan. It is not like their service ended in World War Two. These veterans are still serving and they have the best interest of our soldiers and that is also very encouraging," Murray said.

The group plans a reunion every couple of years.
