JENKINS TOPS EFFINGHAM COUNTY FOR 3RD TIME THIS YEAR
Effingham County was looking to avenge an 0-2 regular season against Jenkins in this Top 10 matchup.
Rebel's Mondre Green went in for the basket and the foul.
Then it's Jakeenan Gant with the follow-up slam.
Captain Jamelle Lanier would then jam it at the other end.
Jenkins wins it 72-68.
EFFINGHAM GIRLS WIN REGION TOURNAMENT TITLE
Effingham County faces Ware County in the girls final.
In the 4th quarter, the Gators' Nehe Howard goes in and gives Ware County the 1 point lead with 2:35 to go.
Back came Effingham, Makayla Robinson with the jumper.
The Rebels take the region tournament title with the 43-41 win.
SAVANNAH HIGH WINS OVER SOUTHEAST BULLOCH
One of the Semi's has Savannah High going up against Southeast Bulloch.
The Blue Jackets got off to a fast start as Jamal Norman jams one, he had 13 points.
The Yellow Jackets kept pace for a while, with a Kaelin Jones three.
But the High would pull away, Jermaine Williams for the layup, he had 11.
Savannah High runs away to an 81-38 victory to move on to the region championship on Saturday night.
JOHNSON WINS OVER NEW HAMPSTEAD
Before New Hampstead took on Johnson, Qua'ron Hilliard of Savannah High was named the winner of the 18th Ron Love Scholarship Award.
The Phoenix gave the Atom Smashers all they could handle. Orante Anderson made three for the early lead.
Back came johnson as Hakeem Coney made a three.
The Smashers would roll on to a 72-41 victory and will face Savannah High on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Armstrong.
BEACH GIRLS TOP PIERCE COUNTY
In girls' play tonight, Pierce County faces Beach High School.
The Lady Bulldogs were in control as Erica Hicks drove to the hoop and scored off the glass, she had 16 on the evening.
Then Jacqueline Anderson hit the corner 3, she had 21 points.
Beach ran away to a 68-41 victory and will face Johnson on Saturday night at Armstrong.
JOHNSON GIRLS BEAT TATTNALL COUNTY 54-41
The Atom Smashers faced Tattnall County in the opening game of the day.
Alexis Pierce for Johnson drove to the hoop and the score, It was 4-1 Smashers.
Then a steal by Katie Collins for the Warriors with layup at the other end.
Ashleigh Simmons would sink a three as the Smashers take a 15-6 lead.
Smashers go on to a 54-41 win, Simmons led the way with 23 points.
VIDALIA BOYS ADVANCE
The Vidalia Indians are riding an undefeated season 25-0 for the first time in 40 years. However, Bryan County would not be ruled out, they are coming off a big win upsetting the BC Cadets on Thursday night.
The Indians would keep the streak alive Friday evening.
Vidalia wins with the 75-44 decision.
The Indians have won every game this season by atleast a 15-point margin.
VIDALIA GIRLS WIN 66-38
Earlier this afternoon in Mt. Vernon., Saint Vincent's faces state ranked No. 10 Vidalia.
In the first half, Kourtney Owens would make an overhead pass to Trinity Hamm who banks off the glass for two. Indians would take an early lead.
The pair would meet up again later as Ownes goes on the fast break. She would miss the layup, but Hamm would be there to clean up, as the Indians pull away by 11.
The Indians would win it 66-38 to advance to the region final.
APPLING COUNTY'S KEVIN JOHNSON SIGNS WITH KENTUCKY
One other High School note, it was a big day down in the atomic city of Baxley on Friday.
Appling County's Kevin Johnson signed a letter of intent to go to Kentucky for track and field.
He chose the wildcat program over several other SEC schools. He's in the top 50 nationally in 300 meter hurdles.
