Fatal wreck takes the life of a pastor on Ga. Hwy 119 near state line

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office is reporting that all northbound lanes of Ga. hwy 119 near the Georgia - South Carolina line are shutdown Saturday due to a wreck that took the life of a Effingham man.

The single vehicle wreck occurred around 5:15 p.m. less than a mile away from the South Carolina state line in Jasper County on Saturday and took the life of 55-year-old Dr. Jeff Rollins, the senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Springfield.

David Ehsanipoor, Effingham County Sheriff's Office, says Rollins was a pillar of the community in Effingham County who touched many lives. He said he was a good, Christian family man.

Effingham County Sheriff's Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.
