GA Senate votes down Sunday alcohol sales bill before St. Patrick's Day

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Georgia Senate votes down a bill to allowthe Sunday sale of alcohol in bars the day before St. Patrick's Day.

Senators voted 28-20 against the move. The billnow will go back to the Rules Committee in an amended form.

The city of Savannah and Sen. Lester Jacksonhad pushed for the state law change to allow businesses who only serve alcohol,or not enough food to be open on a normal Sunday, to be open during thefestival on that Sunday.
